Alanya is a city on the southern coast of Turkey in an area called the Turkish Rivierra. Here you will find beach after beach along the coastline, and the weather in general is real warm and sunny. Turkey and Alanya is also a great destination when it comes to value for your money, it is cheaper here than most other beach destinations around the Mediterranean Sea.

The city of Alanya is devided in two by a little mountain, and on top of it you can find a large fort from year 1200. On both sides of this mountain you’ll find long sand beaches. Apart from just sunbathing and swimming, you can also do waterskiing, beach volleyball, paragliding and snorkling.

When it comes to restaurants and nightlife Alanya is pretty good. The food is cheap and there is a lot to chose from. There are also several bars in the city and drinks are fairly cheap too. On a holiday in Turkey you should also try the Turkish bath at least once.

I decided to make a list here of 3 great destinations for a beach vacation that will give you good value for your money.

The first one on the list would be the Canarry Islands. Lots of people from Europe travel here every year, and there are good reasons for that. The infrastructure for tourism is great, the weather is generally very good and the beaches are numerous and real beautifull. The most popular cities here would be Playa del Ingels, Maspalomas and Puerto Rico.

The second destination I’d like to mention is Florida. It’s fairly cheap to have a beach vacation there these days, and there several beautifull places to go. The weather is generally pretty good, it’s not called the Sunshine State for nothing.

The third destination and maybe the one where you get the most value for your money is Egypt. The hotels are generally quite nice and they are much cheaper than what you find in the US or Europe. The food here is real cheap too, while alchohol compared to that is pretty expensive. The best and most popular location here would be Sharm el Sheik.

SihaSihanoukville is a city by the sea south in Cambodia with lots of really nice beaches. They are not as crowded as some of the Thai resorts, but they can be cramped on weekends and holidays. Visitors should also be aware that some of them might be a bit dirty. If you’d like to do some diving here you should go to one of the nearby islands. The town of Sihanoukville itself does not offer that much to see.

The most well known beaches in the area are Victory Beach, Independence Beach, Sokha Beach, Ochheuteal Beach and Otres Beach. Ochheuteal Beach is the most popular one with several restaurants, bars and food vendors. The most quiet and least developed beach is the Otres Beach, so this is a good place to go if you’d like to relax from the crowds. There are also a few islands not far from Sihanoukville that might be interesting to visit like Koh Russei, which can be reached by private boat for about $5.

To get to Sihanoukville you can take a bus from Phnom Penh which takes you about 4 hours. You can also fly in to the small Sihanoukville airport, about 17 km outside the city. At the moment there are two routes, one from Phonom Penh and one from Siam Reap.

Skiathos has some of the most beautifull beaches in all of Greece and it’s definitely a good place to have your beach vacation. There are lots of huge white hotel complexes filled with mostly English, German and French tourists. Since there are so many hotels on this island it should definitely be possible to find a good deal.

This island is perfect for a week in the sun, unless you have a problem with being at a charter destination like this place is. It is the center of the three northern islands of the Sporades and thus lots of tourists find their way here. There are lots of beautifull beaches on the island though, so you should be able to find one that’s not overly crowded.

The main village on Skiathos is a pretty busy town. You will find lots of bars, restaurants, travel angencies and souvenier shops here. The nightlife is also pretty good cause of all the tourists in the area, and you should definitely spend a few nights checking out all the pubs and discos.
